Good Progress but some concerns

Satomi had another Physical Therapy session this afternoon.  It included walking the hall and climbing and decending a flight of stairs.  She did the stairs just fine but she said that she had some hearing loss in her left ear and got dizzy when she returned to her bed.  Her eyeballs were twitching.  After resting, the twitching and dizziness subsided but I asked the nurse to inform the Neurosurgeon.  This response was a bit surprising since they gave her some drugs for the brain swelling just before the walk.  It is true that the stairs were quite strenuous.

Satomi is sleeping again.

My Favorite Hospital Room

This room sucks elephant ass.

It was made for Hobbits and it was laid out by an exhibitionist.  Anyone entering the room must pass through our curtain to get to the rear bed.

I hear absolutely everything said by our 325 year old neighbor with the asthma and broken hip.  She doesn’t like the shared room either.

If I hear another unanswered cell phone I think I’m going to freak.  You could say that I”m under a bit of stress so I could claim temporary insanity.

Hmmm…  Maybe I shouldn’t post this…  Just kidding.

A new day

“Where’s Mommy, Daddy?  Is she at the Doctor’s?  Is Mommy coming home today?  Where are you going?”

“I’m going to visit Mommy at the Doctor’s.  Maybe Mommy will come home tomorrow…”

The honesty of children is truly inspiring sometimes.  My Parents are working hard to keep the kids distracted and busy.  Maybe they won’t notice that Mommy is not around.  Luckily, Jillian and Kandice have school today so Granny and Grandpa will get a half day off.  I’m so Thankful for their help.  I couldn’t be here with Satomi if I were worried about them.

Satomi looked even better this morning.  She was on solid food (although it didn’t stay down long) and she walked around the ICU.  She has a bit of light-headedness.  There are still signs of double-vision to her left.

I met with the Neurosurgeon to discuss her upcoming treatment.  He said that he was already in contact with our Oncologist and both are composing a plan of action.  He indicated that Satomi needs to recover from the brain surgery first; They won’t order the Pet-CT scan until sometime next week.  The few extra days won’t matter.

She had a Physical Therapy evaluation today.  It was a bit ironic since Satomi is a Physical Therapist.  She did quite well.

The Doctor was happy enough with Satomi’s progress to move her to a regular room.  Room 335A for all those that wish to visit.  If any of you do, be sure to text message me first.  She has been sleeping since moving into this room.  The room is very small so no more than 1 or 2 standing visitors.  There is some chance that she may be discharged tomorrow.  If that is the case, I won’t even attempt fitting our 2 little girls and a grandparent or two in this cubby hole.

End of a long day

Satomi was transferred into the ICU at 8:00pm and was in a small bit of pain; It was being managed with drugs.  She was connected to every sort of machine I could imagine-tubing and cables everywhere.  All signs are that there is no brain damage.

We had visitors too.  Her Mom, Sisters, and best friend came by to check up on her.  It was nice for the group to get together and hang a bit.  Talk of anything besides cancer is a welcomed treat.  All of the women commented that she looked quite well given the situation.  Except for the funny hat that is.

She is on a liquid only diet until tomorrow (hopefully) so talk of food was restricted.  We talked of the day to come and when I would return.  She needed to sleep so I tucked her in for the night.

Good night my dear.  I’ll see you in the morning.

I saw my wife. Finally some good news

She looks fine and seems to have full function-personality, hearing, sight, touch.  To be honest, she looks better now than she did after her mastectomy.  She is a bit groggy and has a headache but so far so good.  There still is a small chance of stroke but that’s what the ICU is for.

“Family” may visit her in the ICU after 8:30pm tonight.  She should be settled in by then.  Anyone that is planning to be “family” needs to text or talk to me first.  I plan to be here whenever anyone visits.  We’re at Saddleback Hospital in Laguna Hills.  Enter through the ER entry after hours and follow the signs to the main hospital.  I am in the waiting room next to the green woman statue.
