Our Satomi is Home
I apologize that I didn’t have any updates for you throughout the day. I had left my laptop at home. Satomi had so many flowers and snacks and stuff that I decided to forgo the computer for an extra hand of carrying capacity. I attempted a Blackberry update but that was way too difficult with my fat fingers.
I brought our Satomi home at 4:00pm today and we are all so happy. Kandice and Jillian won’t leave her alone. It’s nice to see them together again.
Satomi went straight up to bed and only suffered a small bit of light-headed-ness when using the stairs. I stood watch over her the entire time so there was no concern. She didn’t have any complaints about the wonderfully cleared, cleaned and organized bedroom. I organized the flowers she received around the room and stocked our upstairs frig (left over from our first dance with chemo) with drinks, snacks, and goodies.
I helped plan her med’s. For those that know of Satomi’s Dad’s medical problem, this should seem a bit ironic. Satomi is normally the one who figures out med’s-counting, seperating, and organizing pills into little boxes, double checking dosages, cutting oversized tablets into partials, etc. Of course I didn’t do any of that… but her needing my help is ridiculous.
I helped Satomi wash her hair. She can’t feel the rear portion of her scalp so washing without wetting the wound was impossible. I was worried that she would lose her balance in the shower but all was fine. She hadn’t taken a shower since Wednesday night so it made a huge difference in her comfort.
She’s now relaxing in bed and is watching TV. Today was a good day

We’re so glad that Satomi is back at home with the family and that the surgery went well. We’ve been thinking of you guys all weekend and were happy to hear the positive updates. Please let us know if there’s anything we can do for you guys.
Thanks for all the updates, Sean. I’m so sorry I couldn’t make it out to the hospital, but it seems as if I was elected to to be the one to stay at the house and keep an eye on Dad. I don’t mind tho. I appreciate everything you’re doing for my sis and know that she is in great hands. Just wanted to let you know that my thoughts are with you two and the kids always. If there’s anything you need me to do, just let me know.
Carol, you are living the luxury that all men desire – cruising in bed with a t.v., refrigerator, your spouse waiting on you, all at arms reach.

I heard the dobash was a success. =) I’ll send them by the dozens if it brings a smile to your face, Sat! =) I was thinking gourmet chocolate covered popcorn next or sushi for dinner… Aya seems to enjoy the sushi…easy to eat and YUMMY!! Just have Sean send your order to me and I’ll take care of it!

Glad you’re home !! Irene told me about your hospitalization/surgery and I’ve been keeping track of you via Sean’s messages but only today I figured out how to respond with comments. Satomi, Sean is such a excellent caregiver !! Man, I give him a A+ and glad that he’s taken lessons from you. Hey, you need an OT? If you do I’ll be right over.

Hi Sean… I don’t know Satomi well, just started working at Tustin Rehab the end of February… this is all new news to me as she never once at worked looked like she was struggling with any health issues… I have been intimately involved with breast cancer through friends for much too long now… and I’ve seen miracles… Satomi will be the next one I see.. Please let her know that my thoughts and prayers have been with her since the minute I was aware of this struggle … my friends who also know breast cancer way too well are there in spirit too. I know how hard is is to stay strong, and from what it sounds, you are doing a GREAT JOB at it… I love your writing… please hug the girls, all 3 of them, for me.
Hi Sean and Satomi…Actually, just so you know you have some catching up to do…Peggy said she had 3 slices of dobash cake this weekend!! One for Aya’s birthday, one for Kaylee’s birthday, and one for our hula birthdays! No wonder she’s so slender these days! Hee Hee! Please take care of each other and we are thinking of all of you!

I’m glad I checked out your post on Facebook. I normally don’t look at it much. I’m sorry to hear about your wife’s illness. I’m praying for the both of you. I’m so impressed at how loving and caring you are. I only know you as the young high school kid, keeping us laughing and playing ouija board at Lappert’s. You’re a wonderful man and husband. Take care of yourself and family. I will keep you in my prayers.
Hi Sean! Hi Satomi! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings with us! Both of you are very very strong! I can so relate, having been with my mom during her two Gamma Knife procedures and all the other treatments. I’m so glad that you are all home! Your love for each other and all your family is incredible and amazing!!
